Image Making Book: Jungle

This illustrated book, for the Image Making course at UMSL, was made using a multitude of techniques. The theme for my book is jungle; there is much more to a jungle than a densely tangled vines and monkeys hanging off tree limbs. In this book, I explored other meanings for jungle, such as concrete or urban jungle and using jungle as a term for confusion or chaos. I also explored themes such as deforestation and climate change and how that relates to a jungle. Some of the image making techniques used to create these spreads include pen and ink, brush and ink, gouache, paper cutouts, lego letterpress, pressure prints, collage, and photography.
Digital Book
Once my spreads were created, I made a digital book using Adobe XD. The site for my digital book includes a menu of contents, a hand drawn manicule using a calligraphy pen and ink, and animated versions of five spreads.
Process
Here's a behind-the-scene look at some of the elements I made to create this book!
